WIRTZ – STOP-MOTION MUSIC VIDEO
A handmade shadow play – no pixels, all analogue.
MUSIC VIDEO – Wirtz, “Hier”
MAKING-OF – a look behind the scenes of the music video
The official music video for Wirtz’s “Hier” is a raw, emotionally charged stop-motion production that mirrors the song’s theme of vulnerability and support. Its fragmented frame-by-frame aesthetic translates the track’s gritty rock energy into an intimate, unfiltered visual experience.

For once, no pixels at all: everything is handmade and analogue. Clay figures, smoke made of cotton wool, polystyrene and toothpicks, real leaves and branches – everything you won’t find in a render. We lit it all from behind with a single lamp to create a bold, graphic shadow look.

In this shadow world our protagonist walks through his life, sometimes more, sometimes less alone. Mountains and abysses often lie close together, but the journey has a happy ending.

A passion project, developed with a lot of love by Christoph Hessenberg and me: one basement, 15 days, around 80 figures, 15 hours of kneading clay and 4,472 photos.
