NOISE³ – KARLSRUHE PALACE
Projection mapping for Karlsruhe's 300th anniversary.
In 2015 Karlsruhe celebrated its 300th birthday, and its baroque palace became the canvas for the Schlosslichtspiele, curated by the ZKM. Among the works shown was NOISE³ by the Dresden collective ruestungsschmie.de – a roughly ten-minute piece that turns the palace into an audiovisual instrument.
The soundtrack was built entirely from sounds recorded inside the building – doors, windows, stairs, columns – and the visuals were assembled from sampled elements of the palace's own architecture. As a freelance animator in the team around Philip Modest Schambelan, I contributed animation sequences to the piece.
NOISE³ was later selected by the jury of the 19th Japan Media Arts Festival.
